Promoting the Blue Economy at the University
With the vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of about 2.3 million square kilometers, the Government of Mauritius is on the move towards a Blue Economy. This having of main objective to properly exploit our marine resources and to male this sector an important pillar to the economic development of our island.
As the President of the UoM Agricultural Society at the University of Mauritius in 2013, I was quite actively engaged in creating an awareness of the importance and different aspects of agriculture among students on the University campus and also on National level. One of the major activities that was organised last year (2013) was a Go Blue Fair.
The Blue Economy - Towards a marine generation

This having of main objective to properly exploit our marine resources and to male this sector an important pillar to the economic development of our island.
The Go Blue Fair was organised on the 13th of September 2013 at the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium, Reduit. The main objective of that Fair was to create an awareness of the Blue Economy of Mauritius, which the local Government is laying so much emphasis on.

Activities scheduled during the Go Blue Fair:
Different activities were scheduled which consisted of an exposition from some companies engaged in fisheries, marine conservation and aquaculture in Mauritius. Some representatives of the following companies were contacted and welcomed during that Fair:
- Albion Fisheries Research Centre (AFRC)
- Mauritius Oceanographic Institute (MOI)
- Seafood Hub Competent Authority
- Ministry of Fisheries
- Mauritius Marine Conservation Society (MMCS)
- Reef Conservation
- Roche Noire Eco Marine (RNEM)
- Eco Sud Society
